Named Best Cheap Eats Restaurant in Orlando by AOL's CityGuide, Tijuana Flats is certainly deserving of bragging rights. The burrito company's self-proclaimed "fast-casual" college hangout atmosphere mixed with full-service dining and a craving-inducing menu is a tried recipe for success.

Tijuana Flats offers a wide variety of Mexican favorites, including chimichangas, flautas, burritos, quesadillas, nachos, enchiladas and salads. Each entrée serves up a blend of ground beef, steak, chicken, blackened chicken or rice and beans with fresh lettuce, tomato, black olives, jalapenos, cheese and sour cream. Dishes, ranging in size from regular to MegaJuana, can be made "wet" for a dollar more, serving up your favorite menu item drenched in your choice of available sauces.

Homemade chips top off each meal and complement various appetizers. The Tijuana Trio, a personal favorite, combines three dipping favorites: chili con queso, guacamole and salsa. However, the chili con queso is worth seven airplanes on its own merit (we ran out of airplanes to give it), so you may fare more favorably by skipping the Trio.

If you were teetering on the edge between Tijuana Flats and its competitors, a fully-quipped hot sauce bar in every location is the selling point, bringing its own brand of habanero, jalapeno and cayenne pepper sauces, a line cleverly labeled "Smack My Ass and Call Me Sally." The bar also features a variety of sauces from around the world, coded by varying degrees of smiley, or lack thereof, faces giving warning of the particular sauce's intensity.

Any meal can be topped off with perfection in the form of a chocolate chip cookie dough chimichanga. Homemade dough is layered with chocolate sauce, wrapped in a flour tortilla, lightly fried and drizzled with caramel. Aerospace Engineering Junior Kevin Mock says of the fried feat, "It's like sex in my mouth."

The franchise began in 1995, when University of Central Florida alumnus Brian Wheeler opened the first location in Winter Park, Fla. Now, with more than 25 locations in the southeastern United States, Tijuana Flats has exploded and left its mark in Ormond Beach and its newest Port Orange location. Visit Tijuana Flats at 1665 Dunlawton Ave. or call (386) 898-0909; catering is available. Stop by on Feb. 14 for "Smack My Ass and Call Me Single on Valentine's Day," where singles can celebrate their independence with a free beer with any purchase of an entrée and two-dollar "Love Potion" sangria.
