The Aerospace Engineering department at ERAU is known to outsiders as one of the best in the country. Being students here, we have the unique ability to experience it for ourselves. Because we experience it, we are also able to see how it can be improved. With the endorsement of AE department chair Dr. Habib Eslami, AE juniors Tyler Grinnel and Jonathan Castillo-Reminick volunteered to start up a student advisory board for the AE department.
A few outstanding issues that the board is currently working on include learning more MATLAB in EGR-115, offering advanced CFD and NASTRAN courses, and organizing an intern/co-op career fair. The board is also working strongly to emphasize internships and co-ops as a part of the program.
The meetings are kept open to maximize the amount of ideas and input. The board is very driven towards making significant improvement with the help of the faculty and administration. Any AE student is invited to e-mail Tyler or Jonathan with suggestions, or to come to the meetings personally. The board is especially seeking input from seniors in the Propulsion and Astronautics concentrations, and any student with internship, co-op, or work experience. Participation on the board is encouraged and any assistance will be reflected in the improvements the board will make. The meetings are held weekly in the third floor conference room of the Lehman building.
The primary purpose of the board is to ensure that you have a better college experience, are more prepared for a successful career, and most of all that you will have an awesome job!
