Blink 182 Back Again
Band announces new album and tour

They are back. The punk rock legends from California that a majority of this generation had the pleasure of growing up with, after almost five years of hiatus Blink-182 is back together, a kind of "Stay Together for the Kids" if you will.
It was interesting to see Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker on the same stage together at the 2009 Grammy's as they announced the winner of the best rock album and also announced that Blink-182 is back; together again as a band, recording a new album and going on tour this summer.
Seventeen years in rich history, the guys have settled their differences and decided to return to their garage band roots.
After being expelled from high school Tom DeLonge expressed interest in starting a band. His interest caught the ear of Anne Hoppus who introduced Tom to her brother Mark and at which point starting sharing ideas and rocking out in a garage in Poway, California. Recruiting friend and drummer Scott Raynor they recorded a few demos and later replaced Raynor with current drummer Travis Barker in 1998.
It was all down hill from that point. Changing their name from Duck Tape to Blink, they released their first album "Cheshire Cat" followed by "Buddha" and then "Dude Ranch" all of which maybe sold 1,000 copies to friends and family the band struggled to find their punk niche.
After composing platinum and Grammy award winning album "Enema of the State" the trio cemented their place in music history.
Filled with personality/obscenities and one of the last remaining groups to really party like true rock stars it seemed like Blink-182 would be producing music until they died however it was the exact opposite.
After signing onto Geffen records the guys released "Take Off Your Pants and Jacket" and "Blink-182" disbanded on a definite hiatus in 2005.
There were un-clear reports as to why the punk mogul split only later to find that personal feuds was the cause of the break-up.
However, not all hope was lost as Tom DeLonge went on to form Angels and Airwaves and Hoppus and Barker stayed together to put music out under the name of +44. Barker also drummed in bands The Aquabats, Box Car Racer and Transplants.
Although the other bands were successful the music just wasn't Blink as much as anyone wanted it to be.
We can all be at ease as these great artists are working together again to save us from this meaningless state of music that we are in that radio and pop culture calls "good music." Even though punk might not be your style it is the career/personality/free spirit and artistry that so many have come to respect from this band.
This summer look for Blink-182 to be blazing the billboards with hit singles and another platinum album.

Dude Ranch definitely sold more copies than 1,000.

I'm gonna say you're wrong about dude ranch considering their breakout hit was dammit. You really shouldn't write an article if you do not have enough factual basis on the subject. (Continued…)

Dude Ranch definitely sold more than 1000 copies. The album actually got a decent amount of play on Alternative Rock stations, at the time.

Yes, Dude Ranch had a lot more sales than that and actually played a big role in getting the band known. Still, it's a good story of a band going from nothing to huge in just a few years. (Continued…)
