With funding available to student organizations at an all-time low this semester, it was inevitable that some groups had their finances or plans changed because of budget cuts. However, the Student Finance Board's (SFB) mission is to financially help the clubs and organizations on campus. Since we could not fully cover their expenses with SGA budget allocations, the SFB has decided to assist these groups by showing other ways of funding. Accordingly, the Student Finance Board will be having a Fundraising forum Thursday, Nov. 19, at the COA atrium, starting at 5:30 p.m.

Fundraisers are always a big concern for organizations, and the Fundraising forum is going to help end such worries. We invited the person responsible for fundraising at the Daytona International Speedway, Lisa Pinto. She will go over the fundraising opportunities available during the races and the process of signing up for the events. Also, there will be other experts from the field who have raised hundreds or thousands of dollars for their clubs. They will be giving tips and ideas that have worked in the past, and that will make your fundraiser a success.

Not only will there be interesting discussion and useful advice, but the SFB will also be providing free pizza and refreshments. Most importantly, we will be raffling a $100 allocation for the organization you will be representing.

Additionally, the Student Finance Board wishes to remind all treasurers and organizations that receipts are due Dec. 1 at 5:00 p.m. No receipts will be accepted after that, and any money remaining in your allocated budget will not be carried over to the next semester.

Since the Student Finance Board is not able to give away more money to organizations, we are helping them raise additional funds. As previously stated, it is the Student Finance Board's purpose to help out the student groups to achieve their objectives, which generally requires some money. So come out to our Fundraising forum, and see how we can assist you and what you can do to make your club's goals come true. Plus, do not forget to turn in your receipts!
