Friday night and a new movie is always a recipe for a fun time. This past Friday, the movie "When in Rome" was released nationwide in theaters. This romantic comedy is the first of the year and just in time to kick off getting ready for Valentine's Day.
In Rome there is this fountain of love with a Boticelli-esque statue that is supposed to grant one wish to those who toss a coin in the fountain. The lesson that Beth, played by Kristen Bell, is soon going to learn is that when you take coins out of the fountain there is another type of magic that happens.
Beth arrives in Rome for her sister's wedding, but can only stay for 48 hours. The reason is that Beth must get back to work, and not quite believing in love, she is questioning her sister's decision to get married so quickly. During the reception she finds herself picking up coins from the fountain, but when she returns to New York City she soon learns the second part of the wishes from this fountain.
Quickly she finds herself being chased by five different men all professing their love to her. The problem is that she doesn't love any of them. At least she thinks that she doesn't. As she tries to escape the suitors, they seem to chase her more and more.
What is love anyway but a magical journey through entertaining moments? This movie lets these moments come out to breath in ways that is nothing but funny. So if you need a night to watch a light and funny movie may I suggest this one. There is something that everyone can enjoy.
