Vickie Natale, CBS "Star Search" Champion, Reality television performer, singer/songwriter and producer obviously is no pilot but she is not a stranger to traveling. Vickie has graced stages in China, Japan, Hollywood, and all over the United States. For those of you who tuned into CBS in 2003 and 2004 you may remember her competing in the comeback of Star Search with host Arsenio Hall. Celebrity judges Naomi Judd, Ben Stein and MC-Lyte coined Vickie as their favorite, with Judd proclaiming, "It takes an awful lot to make the hairs on my arm to stand up on end… and Vickie does that with her voice". Vickie's competitive spirit won her $200,000 and a Sony Records development deal. After creative differences ended her deal with Sony, she did what most artists are doing today - she started her own label and released her debut CD "Never Gonna Stop". Vickie has performed at the yearly Grammy brunch, paying homage vocally to music legend Chaka Khan with an audience of celebrities such as Stevie Wonder, Prince, and Mary J Blige. In addition to that she has opened up for artists such as Reba McEntire, Deborah Cox and David Archuleta of Idol fame (David was also on Star Search). In addition to opening up for world class artists, Natale made her Carnegie Hall debut only a few years ago, performing under the direction of the late Skitch Henderson with the New York pops orchestra.
As a contracting guitarist in the New York City area, most recently playing with Platinum artists such as Trey Songz, Fabolous and MIMS I have a good feel for musicians. There is no question that Vickie has a vibe that no one couldn't groove with. I have had the pleasure of playing guitar in her band on several gigs. Just recently in December I performed with her in New York City at the World famous Blue Note and at Ashford and Simpson's Sugar bar in (Ashford and Simpson: two songwriting legends who wrote such classics such as "Ain't no mountain high enough"). Nick Ashford has even publicly quoted Vickie as "The little Aretha." Natale frequents the Sugar Bar often; after all it is where the CBS casting director found her singing on a rendition of Aretha Franklin's "Doctor Feel Good."
Vickie's single "Never Gonna Stop" is now available on Itunes and all proceeds from her reverberation downloads will be going directly the Red Cross foundation for the victims of Haiti. 2010 looks promising for this already established and talented artist, she has already begun booking many shows all across the U.S. Who knows, maybe we will see her here at ERAU!
