On Sunday, Feb. 7, Task Force One, the representative organization for first-year
students, will host a Super Bowl party for all Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
students. Starting at 6 p.m. in the John Paul Riddle Student Center, students can enjoy free pizza and beverages provided by Sodexho, and door prizes, while watching the 44th Super Bowl on the large projector screen. Sodexo will also be selling chicken wings and nachos throughout the game.
Task Force One has partnered with Touch-N-Go Productions and the Embry-Riddle Resident Student Association (ERRSA) to make what is anticipated to be an exciting event for
football fans and non-football fans alike.
"We are looking forward to having as many members of the Embry-Riddle community come out to the Student Center on Super Bowl Sunday to watch the game on the big screen and enjoy the various activities we have available," said Task Force One President Brian Cleaver.
This will be Task Force One's first major event for the spring semester. Last November, Task Force One organized a very successful field day, complete with inflatable games and a barbecue. Task Force One members are looking forward to planning a number of campus-wide and community service events throughout the semester to add to the organization and gain a reputation as a bridge between first-year students and the Student Government Association.
Task Force One members actively participated in "Haiti Week" to help victims of the devastating earthquake that struck the island nation last month. Through its Storm the Dorms campaign, where members went door-to-door in Adams, Wood, and Doolittle halls, and a Pie-the-President stand, Task Force One collected over $300 in monetary donations and a wide range of staple commodities.
"Members worked very hard to brainstorm ideas for collecting donations and were met with a great deal of support by other students and faculty of the University," said Task Force One Vice President Josh Small.
Task Force One is open to all first-year students at
Embry-Riddle. Meetings are held every Tuesday, at 7:00 p.m. in the College of Business, Room 118.
