Rolex 24 at Daytona

As the sky turned gray and the rain started to fall, the 48th annual Rolex 24 at Daytona was given the green flag. A total of 45 drivers took to the 3.56-mile combined NASCAR tri-oval and infield road course at 3:30 p.m. Saturday and finished 24 hours later on Sunday afternoon.

The Rolex 24 at Daytona is the beginning of two weeks of racing at the Daytona International Speedway. Saturday, Feb. 6 brings the Budweiser Shootout at Daytona, where past Daytona 500 or Coke Zero 400 winners, past Winston/Nextel/Sprint Cup series champions, past Shootout winners and the 2009 Chase qualifiers battle in a two segment race. The Gatorade Duels take place on Thursday, Feb. 11 to determine the starting lineup for the Daytona 500.

Feb. 12-14 is race weekend as the trucks start it off in the NextEra Energy Resources 250. The Nationwide Series continues the events on Saturday, Feb. 13 in the Camping World 300 and the Sprint Cup wraps up the weekend with the Daytona 500.
