Students from the Catholic Student Union at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University recently joined over 300,000 marchers in Washington, D.C. to demonstrate their commitment to ending abortion in the United States. The 37th Annual "March For Life" is the largest pro-life demonstration in the nation, and was held on Jan. 22, the anniversary of the historic Supreme Court Case "Roe vs. Wade."

Before the March began, the students heard from an inspiring roster of speakers during a rally at the national mall. The speakers, including many prominent leaders from
the pro-life movement, remarked on the importance recognizing the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death. The students then marched down Constitution Avenue, and ended in front of the Supreme Court building.

"The 'March for Life' really opens your eyes to the wounds that abortion causes families every day," said Brent Bowen, one of the ERAU students who attended the March.

"We definitely came away with the feeling that our generation will be successful at ending to practice of abortion in the US."

In addition to the march, the students were also able to attend the "Students for Life of America" conference, which educates students on the realities of abortion, and teaches them how to be successful pro-life activists on -their campuses. This year's conference, held at The Catholic University of America, was the largest ever, attracting nearly 1,200 students. Among the many topics covered at the conference, the most
popular cited recent medical studies which link first trimester abortion to breast cancer.

"Life is one of our nation's most important principles, and we are going to continue fighting this fight until abortion is outlawed in the United States," said Bowen.

The Catholic Student Union is one of the largest student organizations on the ERAU campus. They focus on reaching out to the ERAU community and beyond through spiritual development, service projects, and social interactions. They have been recognized as "Student Organization of the Year" for the two academic years.
