Disney's remake of a classic is a hit

This past Friday, Disney released its newest version of "Alice in Wonderland." This movie was release in the 2-D, 3-D, and IMAX 3-D movie versions.
This time Alice (Mia Wasikowska) is not the little child that we may remember from the original animated version, in fact she is a young lady that is 19 years old in this movie. At the beginning of the movie we find Alice on her way to visit a party, which she doesn't quite want to go to, where shortly she finds out that the party is really her engagement party. Alice at this point "needs a minute" and runs off to find and follow the White Rabbit (Michael Sheen).
While in Wonderland she believes that it is a dream and that she can wake up, but fails to do this. While on her travels she meets up with the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp) who tries to protect her from The Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter). It in the end it is Alice who helps the Mad Hatter escape to continue her adventure to find the "true Alice."
I found that this movie was true to the expectations that I have for a Disney movie. Johnny Depp was outstanding as the Mad Hatter and the twists and turns kept you into the movie. The visual elements were outstanding with the use of color and the 3-D version led to the images having a nice pop from the screen.
This is a movie that is good for all because if you are one who saw the original animated version this Wonderland is familiar but totally different at the same time. I enjoyed seeing this movie and maybe will go back and catch it in IMAX 3D.
